[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2677″ img_size=”large” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank” css=”” title=”28th September ’25 – Annual Charity Tournament, MK Sport Central”][vc_column_text css=””]On what started out on a cool drizzly day, MK Walkers FC gathered at Sport Central in Milton Keynes for our annual charity tournament. In a change to the usual 11-a-side match we decided on a ’round robin’ league tournament – four smaller teams playing in games lasting 12 minutes, playing each opponent twice. We also had another first – mixed teams, with each squad having a player from our own MK Walkers Ladies team. Due to unforeseen circumstances the teams were a little unbalanced but in true MK Walkers spirit we made the best of it, and after the pre-match photos were taken the sun broke through the clouds and we had nothing but beautiful skies for the rest of the day, and battle commenced.   Rob Winton<\/span><\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]The games were played with great spirit under the watchful eyes of our referees for the day Fiona and Stu, and were very close. Each team was fairly evenly matched, with no-one team dominating the entire day. In fact, it wasn’t until the end of the tournament that we discovered that a single goal was the only difference in who won the day! The team in White were the tournament winners on the day, and a look at the final standings tells all the story you need of how close the whole tournament was….<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Runner Of The Year (Comedy Section)<\/span> \u2013 This award is for the player who was voted that blatantly and flagrantly repeatedly broke the \u201cwalking\u201d part of Walking Football <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Best Dressed Player Of The Year (Comedy Section)<\/span> \u2013 This award is for the player most voted for that brings style and sophistication to the training ground<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

As in previous years all members who play in the tournament are asked to donate \u00a310 to take part, and a lot of our very generous players donate regardless of whether they play or not! Others donated items for the raffle, and all of the proceeds are donated to the two charities most nominated by the club members. This years recipients are ‘Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide’ (SoBS) and the ‘Campaign Against Living Miserably’ (CALM). Both of these amazing charities have helped the club and it’s members in the past and are very important to a lot of us, and will be receiving shared donations once the tally is complete.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

As always, this club means everything to our members so being a part of it means more than just playing football, as the generous time and donations show again and again. Thank you to all who organised, arranged, took part or donated raffle prizes or donations to make this a great day. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

There were no prizes, no medals and no awards – it was simply for the love of the game. Our starting line-up was:<\/strong><\/span>

We had a great time, with the final results being 3 wins, 2 losses and a no-score draw. We scored 4 times and only conceded 2, one of which was (obviously) a slightly dodgy penalty. A special shout-out to Paul C. who was simply superb all day. A great way to spend an afternoon with your mates, and we finished (as all good matches do) in the bar. Cheers to Chris (no, the other one) and Martin to popping in and supporting the team.<\/strong><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2661″ img_size=”medium” onclick=”img_link_large” css=”” title=”2nd December ’24 – MK Walkers Under 60’s vs MK Irish Under 60’s Friendly”][vc_column_text css=””]A chilly night saw the MK Walkers Under 60 team take on MK Irish at the Leon Centre in Bletchley last night. It was a close and hard fought battle played in a competitive nature with the Walkers going down 4-3 at the end.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We took an early lead with a cracking shot from John McHale, but Irish fought back and we were down 3-2 at the half, with Jason Heenan slotting another home just before the break.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The second half was a lot closer fought, with the Irish scoring another and keeping John Rattigan in the Walkers goal busy with some superb saves. A clear foul drew a penalty for us, with J Mac smashing it home. The Walkers came close to drawing level on several occasions but it was not to be.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Cheers to Tel for captaining us last night, and thanks to Paul for organising, managing and yelling at us at half time. Also, thank you to our evening cheerleaders – DC, Stevie T and Kief.<\/span><\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2652″ img_size=”medium” onclick=”img_link_large” css=”” title=”3rd November ’24 – FA Cup Winners!”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Linda and Sue from the Ladies MK Walkers FC team played in the over 40s Ladies FA Cup Final for Nottingham Forest at St. Georges Park. Both played a key part in helping the team lift the trophy.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the first time the FA have run an FA Cup for Walking Football and their Nottingham Forest Vets team are one of only 6 women\u2019s teams who have won through from regional competitions. It\u2019s especially prestigious for the women\u2019s team as they were only formed in 2023 but have gone from strength-to-strength since their inception.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Well Done Linda and Sue!<\/span><\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2647″ onclick=”img_link_large” css=”” title=”28th October ’24 – MK Walkers Over 60’sV MK Irish Over 60’s Friendly”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]On a very pleasant Monday night MK Walkers over 60s played MK Irish over 60s in a friendly match at Leon school. Mk Walkers took along a very strong squad and every player who wanted to play took part. The final result was MK Walkers 6, MK Irish 0. Golden boot winner of the night was young Eddie Lindop who scored five times, with Ron Perkins netting another.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Looks like another match ball for Eddie.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Great squad performance and our Graham kept a clean sheet.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The club would like to say a special thank you to Paul Sutton for arranging the match, and to Chris Pearce coming along to support and help manage the squad.
